CCBS Membership
CCBS boasts a wide variety of members, including parrot, softbill, waxbill, and gamebird fanciers. We have novice as well as expert breeders and pet owners. Our membership includes those with inside birds, outside birds, birds as pets, birds as a business and everything in between! Whether you have had birds for years or are considering one for the first time, becoming a member is a great way to network and gain valuable knowledge from those with first hand experience with the species you are interested in! Got a business? Good news...businesses can join via our commercial membership program. The only requirement is that your business have an interest in promoting the causes and purposes of CCBS!
Membership Benefits:
DIRECTORY: Each membership receives a directory in March. This lists other members as well as the types of birds they keep. These other members can be helpful in answering questions about aviculture or in locating birds to purchase.
LIBRARY: The library is a vast collection of bird related publications available to all members. It includes books, magazines, VHS tapes, DVDs, and even computer CDs full of valuable bird information. Members can check-out materials at each general meeting and enjoy them for the month. There many species covered and many of the books have been recently published. Click the following link to take a peek at our library catalogue! LIBRARY CATALOGUE
NEWSLETTER: The Feather Pages is CCBS' monthly newsletter. Each membership receives the newsletter each month (by e-mail or postal mail) full of useful information, club activities, pertinent legal updates, as well as other bird related articles. Members can include free classified ads to buy, sell, or trade birds or bird related products. This newsletter reaches over 100 members so it is a great way to reach the membership.
ADOPT-A-BIRD: Not just cats and dogs can wind up in animal shelters...birds can too! To prevent this, CCBS has an Adopt-A-Bird program where homeless and unwanted birds can find new owners. Once a member has completed a full year in the club, he or she can put their name on a waitlist to adopt one of these deserving birds.
SPEAKER PROGRAM: At most general monthly meetings a speaker comes to talk to the club. These guests range from biologists and breeders to veterinarians and other avian professionals. Some include slide presentations, videos, or even live bird demonstrations.
JUNIORS: Juniors is a branch of CCBS for members under 18. Led by a veteran aviculturist, the juniors hold their own meeting during the business portion of the adult general meeting, then join the group for the guest speaker.
Commercial Membership Benefits:
VOTING RIGHTS: Commercial members are entitled to one vote, and in the case of commercial breeders, two votes on club issues.
DIRECTORY: Commercial members have their business card displayed prominently in the first section of the directory. Just as general members, commercial members recieve a copy of our membership directory as well.
NEWSLETTER: Business members also recieve a copy of the monthly newsletter, The Feather Pages.
WEBSITE LINK: Commercial members are entitled to have a link from the official CCBS website to their business website with a brief summary of the products and services they offer.
CERTIFICATE: Members recieve a certificate stating their affiliation with CCBS to proudly display in their place of business!
