-Pets On Parade: Every March, instead of a guest speaker, CCBS holds our annual Pets On Parade. Members bring their feathered friends to compete in friendly avian competition. Prizes are awarded in catagories such as "Loudest Bird," "Smallest Bird," and even "Ugliest Bird!" To end the evening, all members with their birds form a parade line and strut their stuff!
-CCBS Christmas Party: The Christmas Party truly is a celebration and culmination of the previous year! We play birdie games, compete for great prizes, and even have an ornament exchange. The club provides the main dish and the beverages while club members bring a plethora of tasty side dishes and desserts! The Christmas Party is also a special time as it is when the Charlie Shotz Award is presented for the year. Even Santa often makes an appearance!

Community Activities
-State Fair Bird Show and Exibit: Nearly one million people visit the California State Fair each year so this is one of the best times to teach people about birds and gain exposure for our club. CCBS maintains an educational booth in the Fur and Feathers building for the duration of the fair. Many of our members also enter the bird show for a chance to win the coveted Golden Bear Award. -Dessert Social and Auction: Every April, instead of a guest speaker, the club holds a themed dessert social and auction. From Hawiian or 50's to cowboy themes, members are encouraged to dress up for the year's chosen theme and celebrate! Members donate a multitude of great items to put up for an auction benefiting the club. Cages, birds, and even tickets to sporting events are all regularly donated and bid on. Although many bird items are available, many great non-birdy things are donated every year! An evening of sweet treats and bidding make the Dessert Social an event not to miss! Non members always welcome!
-Wings of Spring at the Sacramento Zoo- The first Saturday in May is a time to celebrate all things bird at the Sacramento Zoo! CCBS is one of many organizations to offer an educational booth for visitors to enjoy. Visit www.saczoo.com for details!
-CCBS Bird Mart and Show- A supreme day of avian browsing and shopping, the CCBS Bird Mart and Show boasts vendors from all over the state. Whether you are looking for a bird item or a bird itself, the bird mart is the place to find it! For those serious bargain hunters, there is even a snack bar so you don't have to deviate much from your shopping route when hunger strikes! Returning in 2009, the bird show is now a permanent fixture at the Bird Mart. Breeders and pet owners from near and far compete to win the coveted best of show!
